With the economic hardships in Zimbabwe it has become difficult for the girl child to purchase sanitary wear which is now pregged at $12 to $15 at some local supermarkets in Bulawayo. Life has become difficult for most young ladies as they struggle to purchase sanitary wear. Over the past years we have seen members of parliament moving motions in parliament to have sanitary wear given for free at schools, universities, but however all efforts by female parliamentarians such as Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga have been fruitless.
Sanitary wear has been a topical issue in Zimbabwe and many have hoped that the government of Zimbabwe would make sanitary wear free and ease the burden off the girl child. Several countries across Southern Africa have made sanitary wear easily accessible to the girl child by providing them in schools to every learner.
