Oral health is maintaining good health of the mouth in all aspects of our lives. This is a day commemorated worldwide and in 2018 it was run under the theme Say Ahh Think Mouth, Think Health. Oral health day is celebrated on the 20th of March. A healthy mouth and a healthy body go hand in hand. The 2018 campaign encourages people to make the connection between their oral health and their general health and well-being and it prompts them to recognize the impact that one has on the other.
In an interview with the Founder and Director of Youth Ahead Everson Phiri during the Oral health day he highlighted some of their key activities as an organisation as they commemorate World Oral Health Day (WOHD). ‘Youth Ahead will be commemorating WOHD and we encourage people to compose a 5 to 10 seconds video message on Oral Health, send their pictures as well as do poems as a way of commemorating WOHD’ he said.
Oral health is a key issue that many people across the world, it is encouraged that one visits a dentists regularly for check-ups, also to change the toothbrush often but how many people do that in this modern day and age? “the purpose of this campaign is to promote Oral Health , generally educating the people on the importance of brushing your teeth, how to take care of bleeding gums, the causes of oral diseases as well as behaviours that put one at risk of getting oral diseases” added Phiri
World Oral health day (WOHD) is a day largely celebrated by a lot of people and Oral health is a major concern throughout the world. Many people have been encouraged by various organisations who took to social media to spread the word and alert many people on the importance of WOHD and on the need for one to take good care of their teeth.
